Culture change is one of those buzz words we hear seemingly everyday in corporate America. But unlike most of them, this one is actually important. Given the amount of significant change organizations face today, learning to quickly and effectively change a culture is extremely important. By understanding some simple concepts, you can rapidly accelerate changing the culture of your origination.
Do your employees know if they are doing a good job, if they have job security or have you emphasized “NO ONE’S JOB IS SECURE”. That doesn’t create an environment for productivity or loyalty. It creates hostility and constant searching for a new job.
Your company needs your direct attention if you are going to survive. Getting back to the basics, rolling your sleeves up and letting your loyal employees know you are in the mix with them.
Now ole Fred Taylor really killed spirit when he decided to break work down into its constituent parts. In the Taylorist days no one had ownership of the end product. People were not doing their best and nobody really cared. Mediocrity ruled the day. They clocked their hours and were paid. They did what was asked of them and nothing more, mere factors of production, that’s it. They didn’t care for their labors and hence quality products were a dream. Consultants leaped on this and found ways of improving quality, reducing waste, saving time, working smarter not harder. Still, however the worker was not really engaged, just worked harder in the name of productivity.
We make small changes in the way we do things. Kaizen is an example of that. Six Sigma and material tubular lean and the resulting process improvement are all about how we do things. Doing things in an improved manner leads to incremental changes not to huge changes, just marginal change. Which for many industries and business is good enough. It affects what, and how, we are doing our jobs and producing results.
This facility is also looking at other ways to increase productivity. They are looking at ways to rearrange the facility to make better use of the space that they already have. They are looking at a 30 percent increase in production if they layout is changed. It is believed that the cost of this project would be recouped in about 4 years. One major proponent in JIT is to eliminate wasted space. Siemens seems to be trying to accomplish this by this proposed project.
The difference between best laptop brands comes down to operating system and design. If I had to pick the best laptop brand in the market I would definitely go with Apple. This company provides excellent quality of their products, amazing customer service support, and good warranty program. However, Apple is not for everyone mainly because of its operating system. If you don’t feel comfortable with using a Mac than I would definitely go with Dell or HP. Dell has been in the market for many years introducing lean manufacturing system (producing its products once the transaction order has been made). This allows them to cut costs and provide high quality laptops instead. Another brand that is safe to buy is an HP. This company is mostly known for good laptops for gaming but it is relatively good.
