China and India are both continent-sized countries with populations of over one billion people, making the prospect of a China vs. India conflict a potentially international disaster. At the present time, both countries are focused on domestic problems and furthering their economic development. However, China and India have conflicting ambitions and an unresolved border dispute that may draw them into conflict. In such an event, wheeled armor could figure prominently, as such vehicles are lighter and therefore better suited to the high roads of the Himalaya than tracked armor.
After about an hour, I was near the open jail. It was a nicely kept place. The inmates were taught many kinds of skills. Some of them were involved in farming while some others were making wooden furniture. I was happy to see my son sitting before a computer in the computer class. The prison officer was a nice fellow and he dealt very politely with the prisoners. I don’t know whether they dealt in the same way even with the illiterate inmates.

Man Singh, like Billy the kid of the Wild West, is more of a legend now. He is almost treated as a demi-god by the local populace who remember him as a benevolent dacoit. He robbed the rich and gave to the poor. In this respect he was more of a robin hood. He was a Thakur by caste and took pride in this fact. But the dark side of this dacoit cannot be erased as he committed over a 150 murders and umpteen dacoities. He is also credited with killing 32 policemen. But in many a case he would give money to the policemans family who had died doing his call of duty against him. In that respect he was a unique dacoit.

As can be seen, 1984 was a pivotal year in furthering what we now look back upon as the “1980s image,” for so many reasons. The year saw the reelection of a very popular President Reagan, the introduction of the Macintosh computer, and the expansion of an economy that would continue to render much of the expanding opulence that fits hand in glove with the concept of high-living that many in the 1980s experienced. Watch as the decade enters its second half as you continue reading The 1980s.
