Automotive recycling is simply the dismantling of automotive vehicles to make spare parts. After a car has fulfilled its purpose and is an economic burden on society, it should be disposed of properly. At the end of their usefulness life, automobiles have no value as a raw source of components and this has caused a automotive recycling industry to spring up.
The automotive recycling industry starts with removing interior and exterior salvage from cars no longer useful for salvage car buyers. Often times, these salvage yards sell the cars to salvage buyers, who in turn will dismantle the vehicle, one piece at a time, and then rebuild them to sell. Essentially, the recyclers take broken down, wrecked vehicles and inserting new auto parts into them, and then sold at profit. Obviously, the more parts that are used in the vehicle the more profitable it will be for the recycler.
With the advent of the internet, online retailers have emerged that not only sell these kinds of used auto parts, but also provide shipping anywhere in the country. This allows Bassirpour said he has seen a drastic increase in interest in his business. As a result, Bassirpour has expanded his automobile recycling service from coast to coast.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the country produces more than thirty-six million tons of potentially hazardous waste annually. Of that number, 14 million tons are classified as non recyclable material. These statistics paint a grim picture of the amount of garbage produced by our nation and the impact it has on the environment.
People are naturally concerned about the current state and the future of our economy. So, it’s not surprising that many are concerned about using automotive recycling to get rid of their old vehicles. This isn’t a new trend, however. Car owners have been selling used parts on the used car marketplace for decades. Today, many of them are doing the same thing using used automobile parts for trucks and boats, vans, RVs, motorcycles, jet skis, and snowmobiles. It just might be time for the next logical step and that is to be green and invest in recycled parts to power their vehicles.
The recycling industry produces over twenty billion pounds of scrap metal each year, the majority of which is aluminum. Bassirpour said that a lot of the scrap is made up of aluminum that could be used to make panels for vehicles with newer technology, instead of buying new ones. He estimates that the recycling industry will generate ten to twenty five billion pounds of aluminum in the next 10 years. This will not only benefit the aluminum industry, but also help the environment. We could put our climate and our environment at risk if we left this metal in the landfills. Bassirpour and other experts believe that investing in aluminum is a wise decision.
It appears that Americans are beginning to see the benefits associated with being “green”. Particularly after seeing how fast-paced the global economy is becoming. Many consumers are looking for ways to save money, and auto recycling is one of them. Whether they want to buy recycled vehicles or give their old junk to metal recyclers, going green has never been easier.
Recycling is something everyone should strive for regardless of whether you choose to purchase recycled vehicles or give away your junk. Recycling isn’t just for car owners. There are many advantages to recycling cars and the globe as well. Not only is recycling the proper procedure, it’s also the right thing to do. By using recycled components in new vehicles, you’ll be helping to prevent our fragile ecosystem from degrading. This is something we can do for future generations and for ourselves.
